About
Jenny Ligthart is a Professor of Macroeconomics at the Department of Economics of Tilburg University and the University of Groningen. In addition, she is a Senior Research Fellow at CentER and CESifo and is Editor of FinanzArchiv/Public Finance Analysis.
Her research focuses on the macroeconomic repercussions of fiscal policy in an international context. In addition, she analyzes the economic and welfare effects of policy instruments aimed at addressing international tax evasion. She also researches topics in the broader area of development and taxation.
Prior to joining Tilburg University, Jenny Ligthart worked for five years (1997-2002) at the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC, where she was involved in advising governments on fiscal matters. She holds MA, MPhil, and PhD degrees in Economics from the University of Amsterdam.
